The toji and president of Matsui Sake Brewery, which brews Ryuki, was coming to our usual restaurant. We were invited to the party and attended. Koyama Shoten also attended the party, and we were served seven kinds of Ryuki.
All were good, but I preferred the orthodox Yamadanishiki Junmai Ginjo Nama and Hiraijo Junmai Ginjo Unfiltered Nama. The Hiraijo is only distributed in Gunma.
There were more than 10 of us, so it was interesting to hear various stories from the toji.
The owner gave me a front hanging for my birthday. Yay!
I think I drank too much because the bitter gourd and dried conger eel were so delicious. I missed the train for the first time in a while.

Hiraijo Maikaze
Local sake made from all Gunma ingredients. Slightly yellow, faintly cloudy.
Purchased at the nearest Matsuya Sake Brewery.
With a sake strength of +11 and an alcohol content of 18%, it is aptly described as a super-hot junmai ginjo.
However, the rice aroma, softness on the palate, and a hint of sweetness and umami give the impression that it is not as spicy as it claims to be. There is even a slight numbness on the tongue.
It's plainly delicious. Tsumayaka.

Encountering the Gunma Sake Brewery Project at a department store
There were about 10 brands of "all-Gunma" sake brewed by breweries in the prefecture using Gunma's own sake rice brand Maikaze, which was recommended to me.
The sake was touted to be super dry, but it wasn't that dry.
It was not so much a food sake, but more of a snack.

Last year's Hiraijo sold cheaply at the supermarket. It is a local brand of the sake brewery that makes Ryuki.
It's not as easy as I thought it would be to drink it hot. It doesn't interfere with meals, but it's not enough to drink by itself.

The Maikaze series is sold at the end of April every year at breweries all over Gunma. This is the "Hiraijo" version!
It is a light, dry type of sake. It has a sake degree of +11, which makes it tingly and spicy, but you can still taste the mild sweetness and flavor unique to the Maikaze sake rice.
Even though the rice is from Gunma and the brewery is from Gunma, you can see a completely different world in the Maikaze series. We look forward to next year✨.
