Temperature 5°C
Taste 80
Color Pale brown, lighter than highball.
Nose: No freshness. Mild.
Taste: Soft and rich, like a Hiyamoroshi with a bit of Kijoshu blended in.
Overall impression: No signs of damage for a sake that has been sitting in the store for 8 months. However, since it is a draft sake, it probably doesn't taste like it should.
I should have compared it with a new one.
It was sitting in the refrigerated section of a local co-op and there was only one bottle left, so I bought it without a second thought.
It was delicious! The first sip has a hint of sweetness, but once it crosses the throat, it is bitter and refreshing. I love it. And I was impressed by the coop's nostalgia..!
I checked the brewery and found that it is located in Niigata-Tsugawa. I used to love the hot springs in that area (around Sakibana) and stayed there many times, so I feel nostalgic. I would love to go back.
I visited a sake gathering event and was allowed to taste and purchase some sake.
It is a bit precious because there are no distributors in the area where I live 😆.
The aroma is mildly fruity.
The mouthfeel is slightly fruity to malty and mellow, followed by a light bitterness that tingles the tongue and leaves a firm lingering taste on the nose.
The description says it has a unique and addictive mellow flavor, and that is exactly what it tastes like.
It is the kind of sake that makes you want another and another.
I was told that the sake was purchased at the Niigata Sake-no-jin, so I will have it.
I have never seen it before.
I am not familiar with Takananishiki either.
It's nice in a classic way. When I was younger, I might have disliked it, but I seem to have developed a more mature palate 👅.
