I like that it is junmai sake.
I don't think it has a strong rice flavor.
I don't think it has a strong rice flavor, but it has the freshness of sake,
without leaning too much towards either.
Sake! without being too much on one side or the other.

Here we go again this year, the first in a series of trophies from the Niigata Sake Festival. It's...Kikusui!
Just like last year, Kikusui's booth was crowded this year. Funaguchi seemed to be the most popular, but I decided to buy this one immediately after tasting it, as I thought it was as good as the others.
It is sharp and edgy rather than fresh at the entrance, followed by umami and then dryness. I remember the lady at the booth told me to be careful because of its high alcohol content (19%) (I was already drunk at that time). It is a dangerous drink because it is easy to drink.
I bought 6 bottles this time. I will update this page as needed.

The smooth taste of Kikusui Funaguchi is the same as that of Kikusui Funaguchi.
It has a caramel and chocolate-like aged taste, probably because it has been left at room temperature for more than half a year.
It has a full-bodied, sweet, mellow taste.

Dry but light and smooth. Very good, my favorite of the three I tried on this evening (better than the Born Gold Junmai Daiginjo).

Kikusui Hiyoroshi. I was attracted by the limited autumn season and bought it (laugh). It has a clear throat and a sharp taste on the palate. It is a good sake with Kikusui's umami.

I bought this frozen raw sake along with the Sasanogawa I bought the other day.
It is not from Niigata's Kikusui, but from Kochi's Kikusui Sake Brewery.
It is dry, but fruity and sweet, and tastes better than I expected.
It was best when it was in the process of melting.
When completely melted, it is a thin and spicy sake...
