It has been more than a decade since my wife and I have had a drink together at an inn in Ikaho. It was only because our sons have grown up that we finally had this kind of time. It is an izakaya named Hitomotoko, located on the first floor of a long-established ryokan called Tenbo. I told them I wanted a junmai local sake, which was not on the menu, and this is what I got. What a beautiful blue bottle. It was light and a bit dry, like old-fashioned sake. Still, I wanted a local sake, so I was satisfied!

On the way back from touring Lake Haruna, we stopped by a sake brewery and found a nice sake. It is delicious both cold and at room temperature. It is dry and full-bodied.

I thought I could go for at least two different kinds in a cup, so I opened the second bottle of "Funao Taki"! I've seen the name before, but this is the first time I've had it. When I opened the bottle, the aroma was thicker than the previous "Tanigawadake". It has a thick, sweet, slightly banana-like aroma 🍌. The mouthfeel is smooth and silky, but the taste is more like a mellow sake with sweetness as the main ingredient. The rich umami from the 70% polished rice and the spiciness from the aluzoe are a good match, and the flavor is not cloying. Finally(?) Gunma is the 50th check-in. Although I have no particular connection or affinity with Gunma, I hope to explore more and more, including the "Akagisan" that got me into sake, with the goal of reaching 100 next time 😌.

Hello, kab! Yes, it is. It is a refreshing sake that is typical of Gunma sake, but it has a darker flavor similar to the Katsuragawa or Gunma Izumi type of sake👍. As you say, it only makes me keenly aware of the depth of Gunma sake and sake 😊.

home brewed drink, a gift from a friend! Not to be outdone by its name, it's certainly dark! Chilled; doesn't feel as high as 19 degrees. Went well with meat sauce and potato snacks.

Temperature Estimated 45°C (range setting) Taste 55 Color Clear and colorless Aroma: Very much like a honjozo. Taste: Slightly sweet at first, but soon turns hot and spicy. Taste: A little sweetness at first, but soon becomes hot and spicy. It has a high resetting power, so it is good as a mid-meal drink with strong dishes. Overall impression: Last year and the year before, when we drank it at this time of the year, it had a milder taste and aroma, which we liked, but this year it is a little out of our liking.

Daiginjo-shu received from a business associate. It is easy to drink with a mild taste and not too sweet. If you want to drink it with a meal, meat dishes would be a good choice. It seems to be surprisingly addictive.

It is rich and dry, with a sensation of alcohol or nose. There is little aroma. I drank it chilled, but it might be good hot.
