I recently moved from Ikebukuro to Shinjuku due to a relocation of my workplace, and I have two favorite izakayas in Shinjuku: Yoshimoto at the west exit and Taruichi in Kabukicho. Yoshimoto seems to have closed 😢. We went to Taruichi. The izakaya serves delicious urakasumi and seafood from Sanriku. It was my first experience at an izakaya with a good selection of sake. We took our time at the counter. I started with a beer. The fried burdock root is also delicious here. Urakasumi Gold Label. It is fresh, dark, and sharp, and I like it. Whale sashimi and oysters. 1400 check-in.

Thank you very much, Oyaji-san. In my countryside, we eat miso soup with whale fat in summer, but we don't eat sashimi, and I have only had it at this Taruichi-san when it comes to sashimi. It is delicious.

Thank you, Sashiu-san. Miyagi prefecture seems to have a food culture of eating whale. Urakasumi is a perfect match for this 👍.

Thank you very much, Bosuke. I don't have an izakaya at the nearest station to my place of residence, so I have to go to the town where I work or on my way to work. I like this restaurant and sometimes I want to visit there for Urakasumi and Sanriku seafood.

Thank you, Aaru Sake. It is a flat sake cup with the name of the restaurant. It's nice, isn't it? As Kazuhiko Ota mentioned, the porcelain flat sake cup is clear without blurring the taste of sake, and the mouth part is thin, so it is suitable for tasting sake.

Thank you, Ane-san. There seem to be a lot of restaurants in Shinjuku, but there are few that I would repeat, but I like Taruichi. The local flavor of Miyagi Prefecture, Urakasumi, and other sake are good choices without being trendy.

Thank you, Harry Sakeboy. I know izakaya was greatly affected by the Corona disaster. It was a shame that Yoshimoto's closed in Shinjuku after 10 years as an employee, but Taruichi is still going strong. It is very difficult to continue for many years, isn't it?
