Hakone Drink Comparison Set (2) On March 1, after a year-long event, I went on a trip to Hakone as a way of consolation! The local sake was served to compare with Japanese kaiseki. It was my first time to try Hakonezan! This is the spiciest sake in the group. It is a dry ginjo-shu as you might imagine, but it is moderately rich and very good as a mid-meal drink. Of course, it goes well with ingredients as they are, but it also goes well with dishes that have been added, such as those using dashi (Japanese soup stock)!

Today we opened this bottle 💁. It is Hakonezan Ginjo Ginjo Ginkara from Kanagawa Prefecture. It is a classic type, with umami and acidity like a jab, but it has a light aftertaste. If we were to compare it to Pokemon, it would be like pudding.

Hot sake. Mild taste. Mild and refreshing. Rice polishing ratio: 70%. Sake degree: +4.0 Acidity: 1.2 Alc.: 15.6%.

It was described as slightly dry. It has a clean mouthfeel and a soft aroma coming from the back. I had it with a fish cake trial set at the Odawara Suzuhiro Kamaboko Bar.

Odawara is purchased at Suzuhiro, a kamaboko shop. I hadn't had sake for a long time. It has a sweet taste and is easy to drink. It was delicious with kamaboko as a snack.
