Hakone Drink Comparison Set (2) On March 1, after a year-long event, I went on a trip to Hakone as a way of consolation! The local sake was served to compare with Japanese kaiseki. It was my first time to try Hakonezan! This is the spiciest sake in the group. It is a dry ginjo-shu as you might imagine, but it is moderately rich and very good as a mid-meal drink. Of course, it goes well with ingredients as they are, but it also goes well with dishes that have been added, such as those using dashi (Japanese soup stock)!

Hakoneyama is gentle on the palate. It doesn't give you a sharp taste. If you put it in your mouth, the intoxication goes around your nose. However, it is lightly dry and smooth. After the next day, the light sweetness comes and it is easy to drink, but it still comes on quickly, and it seems to pull away at the end. It is easy to drink, but it is still smooth, and it seems to pull away at the end. How about this as an introduction to sake? How about as an entry point for sake? After that, it may turn fruity. Or will it go on to be dry?
