2023 Year in Review. We had it at "Stand Shinbaku Honmachi". OHABAI MACHO" Wooden vat, old style blend 90 (Miyamanishiki) [Makino Sake Brewery, Gunma]. It is sweet! What is this? Dark sweet! This is the image of a sweet drink in Japan before the concept of fruit juices. Astringency like caramel? Bitterness? It's sweet, but there's a bitter taste of sake in the back. Oh, yes! That's it! That's it! The good kind of cold syrup for kids.

2023 Year in Review. We had it at "Stand Shinbaku Honmachi". Hououmida Special Vintage 2022" Arashigo-Oshikiri Merger Junmai Daiginjo Kasumi Hon Nama Sake (Yamada Nishiki) [Kobayashi Shuzo, Tochigi]. The taste and mouthfeel are softly sweet and sour. The sweetness is slight, and the acidity is strong but not too assertive, and it goes down smoothly. A sense of speed? The aftertaste leaves a strong atmosphere at the throat. The main taste itself is classified as sweet and fruity, but the dry and refreshing impression may be stronger.

The third glass is Shinomine. It too was full and pleasant on the palate. It has a bit of bitterness at the end, but it went down my throat with a smooth finish. Thank you, Master, for choosing my favorite sake. The food was delicious and there were plenty of drinks to choose from.

The second drink was Nabeshima. Nabeshima is delicious after all! It is juicy, fruity, and has a refreshing aftertaste. I could drink as many cups as I wanted. The side dish was boiled kintoki herb (I had never had it before).

A group of sake lovers got together for a drink and went to a sake bar in Honmachi. The menu included a three-sake comparison, so I asked the master for the first glass of Takachiyo. The hiragana version was sweet and fruity, the kanji version was spicy (not as spicy as I expected), and the romaji version was in-between. They are all delicious. My favorite was the middle one with roma characters.
