Purchased at a local sake shop specializing in sake, drawn by the label design and the overall impression of the bottle. The first sip surprised me with a bitterness beyond my imagination. Is this good? As you take the second and third sips, you become accustomed to the bitterness and at the same time you notice that the alcohol taste is getting stronger. Then you notice that the sweetness remains at the end. But the intoxication soon fades. It is refreshing, leaving a bitter taste on the upper jaw and throat. To be honest, I could not find out what I should drink it with this time. As the name "Matsumidori" suggests, it is as if one bites into a pine leaf and feels the bitterness and greenness of the leaf. It has been a long time since I have had sake, and this was a new encounter. It is said to be an autumn-aged one.

At the end of March, at the beginning of spring, I took a trip to Mt. Haruna Shrine, Mt. Haruna, and Lake Haruna, and after more than an hour's bus ride from Takasaki Station, I arrived at the lake to find the remnants of winter still visible in the mountains and on both sides of the road. After soaking in the Lake Haruna hot springs, I think I spent the entire day looking at nothing but the lake and the mountains. I bought this sake at Takasaki station on my way home. It was not as sweet and refreshing as I had expected. I bought some fried wakasagi (smelt) at a restaurant near the lake just before the bus departed for home, and it would have been better if I had drunk it with fried wakasagi. I was surprised to find that the smell I detected from the wakasagi was the very aroma of the hot spring.

I had a business trip to Sakura at the beginning of this month, and on my way back I stopped by a liquor store and got this one. It's a little dry, but some people might think it's a little sweet. I met this sake when I went on a trip to Shimane in early spring of this year. On the first day, we visited Matsue Castle, Lake Shishido and the old city around it (related to Lafcadio Hearn), and on the second day, we went to Izumo Taisha Shrine, Hinomisaki, Kitamura ceramics, etc., and on the last night, we drank it at a tavern near Izumo City Station. We had tempura, salted fish, etc., and it went best with nodoguro (dried nodoguro), and was great with sashimi. It goes best with Japanese food, of course, but this sake is the best with fish. Drinking it reminded me of a strange cloud cloud spider sprouting from behind the shrine (Mt. Yakumo), the Sea of Japan seen from Cape Hinomisaki, the cold wind and the beautiful sky as I watched the sunset over Lake Shishido, and the scary, beautiful and divine Shimane Prefecture behind my eyelids. ☁️

The color of the sake is a little light yellow. (I've already drunk the picture.) However, it's not too sweet and the initial mouth feel is quite easy to drink, similar to water. The aftertaste is more alcoholic, and the taste is more intoxicating than expected. It may be a good match for any kind of food (drinking). We drank it at home, but it would be heavenly if we could drink it at the inn in the evening while cooling off and enjoying the view of the Tama River headwaters at Okutama. The light blue color of the bottle is so beautiful that I think I'll use it for flower vase as well.
