We participated in the Bodhi Hashiro Sake Festival held at Shorakuji Temple in Nara. I woke up at 5:30am, left the nearest station a little after 6:00am and got to JR Nara before 8:00am. It takes a long time because there is no rapid train running at this time😅. I met up with Ms. Umaï and Ms. Rutemi at the bus stop. I thought I was too early because the bus arrived an hour before, but I was sure I could sit down, so I guess I was right to be early. The bus left at 9:00. It took about 30 minutes to arrive, but the ride was uncomfortable and I almost got drunk 🤮. It was driving through places like that😳 The atmosphere was a bit somber as it was a temple. The brewing process is done in collaboration with the toji (master brewer) of each brewery, the brewer, Shorekiji Temple, and Nara Prefecture. After the opening ceremony, we moved to the tasting area. When the brewing process begins, a peculiar and indescribable aroma like cheese? A unique and indescribable aroma like a cheese? First, we tried an expensive sake. It is called "Bodai-izumi" and costs 16,500 yen. This label seems to be a limited edition Shorakuji label. The one sold at liquor stores has a more expensive label. The label on the back is a Kaze-no-mori (Wind Forest) version, but it seems to be made by the Kuramoto Sake Brewery. It tastes rich, sweet and sour, like a plum. Like a plum wine minus the sweetness? It may be obvious, but this is the best one I've ever tasted. Lucky to be able to drink this for 500 yen 😁. to be continued

Hello, bouken. It was a pleasure to experience the Bodai Hashimoto Festival. The Bodai Sen was the most sour and tasty sake, close to the aroma of the steamed rice steam. Yamabushi also enjoyed it 😊.

Hello bouken😃 Thanks for the report on the Bodhi Hashiro Festival 😊 I watched it with great interest. I thought the Bodai Sen was totally different from the etiquettes I saw the other day, this one was a Shorekiji limited label 🤔.

Aladdin, good evening😃. You should definitely visit next year for a detailed explanation and Q&A session 😊. Looks like they change the labels with liquor store distribution 🤔I thought Bodai Spring itself was limited to Shoreki-ji in the first place😅.

Nara Pref. Nara City. Kuramoto Sake Brewery Co. Bodai-zumi. Sake made from Bodai yeast, which I was interested in. And I visited "Bodai Hashiro Sake Festival" where a festival event of Bodai Hashiro is held 😄. The event is held at Shouryakuji Temple, the birthplace of sake (there are various theories), where the sake mother, called Bodai Hashiroshi, is brewed at the temple. Rice is steamed in lactic acid fermented water called "Soyashimizu" and tasted while being exposed to the unique fermentation aroma of cheese and yogurt 🤣. The aroma of the upper part of the bottle has a very subtle cheese aroma at the back of the bottle. It has a unique acidity and a solid sake feel that is not too robust and not too spicy. Not modern but not too classic. 500 yen for a tasting cup 🍶. Limited to 500 bottles a year, it was an unreasonable price to buy 😅. I was grateful to have it, thinking that this is the origin of sake in the Muromachi period 🙏. We also had 7 different kinds of sake brewed using the Bodai yeast for 500 yen (with a bowl of Kuramoto Sake Brewery's Narazuke) and a cup of sake lees soup for 100 yen each 😋. Oh! Sweet sake lees soup, yummy! I thought, but this year it was made with sake lees from Kaze no Mori's Aburanaga Sake Brewery😋. There used to be about 12 breweries that belonged to the "Nara Prefecture Bodhi Hashiwase Sake Brewery Study Group" but the number has been reduced to 7...

Good evening, Nemuchi-san. I see you went to Shorekiji Temple. I was just regretting that I missed it when I saw the news. I envy you that you experienced that unique fermentation aroma 😆 It's a pity that the number of breweries in Nara that sell Bodhi Hashiroshi is decreasing 😢.

Hi Hirupeko, Good evening 🌉I went to Shoryakuji for the first time 🚗There were many TV cameras there so it must be a regular event in Nara 😊The unique fermented aroma was quite impressive 👍Please visit there as it is in early January every year😆.

Hello Mr. Menshuoh, I'm always interested in the various ways of brewing sake and the various flavors that can be found here, thinking back to the Muromachi period long ago 😊I'm amazed at the ingenuity of people in the past using the bounty of nature 😆.
