Also strong and sweet. Sweet and nutty and slightly meaty, chestnut-like. Chocolate-covered blackcurrant, roasted hazelnut, black pepper, honeysuckle. Theres a flavour there that feels very familiar, but I just can’t quite describe.
Delicate flavours but bold and complex. Medium sweet but quite strong stuff.
This is a very interesting and unique saké that I’m really happy to try as part of this set. However, overall, the original Funaguchi is still my favourite.

Strong and sweet with a smooth depth. Big cocoa and walnut flavour with persimmon and raisin. Gentle slightly peppery spice flavours, maybe a hint of ginger and allspice.
Really interesting and flavourful, fun to try as part of this three-pack set. The aging gives a slight caramel tint, but I guess this doesn’t count as koshu?
If I compare with the regular yellow nama-genshu, I like the original better, but this is still very good in its own right.
