[The night at Kikki continues 😁. After a two-year absence, the sake lineup has changed slightly. They used to have two types of Kamotsuru, a special sake and a top-grade sake, but now they have narrowed it down to one top-grade sake. The owner's thoughtfulness was too much to be pleased with, saying, "We don't serve it now, but since Jive is coming, we put it in specially for you. I felt a bond with the owner as I sipped on this sake. Kamotsuru Tokusyu (special sake). Plump rice aroma, mild umami and sweetness on the palate, and a lingering mild umami aftertaste even after it finishes. Ahhhh, it's delicious! The sake that got me into the sake swamp is still delicious 😊. Great with fried food such as deep fried kuwai and deep fried whale ✨. As the night wore on and the customers started to wear out, the owner asked us to join him for drinks, which we did as usual, so I ordered a large portion of "horse mackerel licking" for my last order, opened the "pickled sea bream" and "pickled mackerel" that I had brought, and the three of us sat at the table with the neighbor who works at "Otters" and talked about "this", "that", and "the other". We had a great conversation, and before we knew it, it was time to call it a day ✨. It was a lot of fun, and drinking here was the most refreshing thing I've ever done 😆. The next day we had Chinese noodles for lunch at Sonoda in Fukuyama, delicious 😊.

Good morning, Pon-chan! After my first visit to Kikki, we've continued to exchange New Year's cards and local snacks 😁. Kamotsuru Tokusyu (special sake) goes perfectly with the dishes made with the best ingredients from the Seto Inland Sea prepared by the owner 😋.

Good morning, Jay & Nobby! For some reason, it has become a pattern for solo travelers to arrive at Kicuki, have a conversation with the owner, have a drink with him, get to know each other, and leave 😁. There are many repeaters like myself ✨.

Good morning, Rafa! We go to Onomichi every year and drink together every time before Corona, so we've known each other for a long time 😁. Sometimes I forget to update the menu, and when I go there, I get excited in a way that I can do this today!

The second drink of the trip to Onomichi [Kikki] to refresh your spirit is a drink here 🍶. Seikagami Junmai Sake. The nose is not so effective and the aroma is not so strong, but the mouthfeel is strong and sweet, and then it finishes with a lingering sweetness and sake-like aftertaste. The dish was again off the menu [Wagyu Beef Tataki]. The customer next to me was confused when I asked for something that wasn't on the menu, so I told him to ask the owner and he would get it for me, which led to a conversation 😊. I told him that I was an employee of Otters and that I was here on a solo trip for a change of pace. The three of us had a lively conversation and the fun night continued 😁.

One hour on the Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka, transferring to a local train at Fukuyama, 20 minutes to Onomichi. As soon as you exit the station, the nostalgic atmosphere of the Onomichi waterway will calm your mind. Since I always know where to go for a drink in Onomichi, I stroll around downtown Onomichi at night until it's time to go out for a drink, enjoying the nostalgic atmosphere of the narrow, maze-like alleys and naked exterior lights, and now it's time to drink 😁. The owner says "Welcome back, Jive" to me as I enter Kikki, which is half the reason I come to Onomichi ✨. We toast with a beer while debriefing 🍺As always, the beer here has a slightly sherbet-like kick to it that I can't resist after a day on the Shimanami Kaido 🧊. Shifting from beer to Hiroshima's local sake, we started off with this 🍶. Kamerei Junmai Sake. The aroma is clear with a hint of rice sweetness, the mouthfeel is smooth with a slight sweetness that matches the aroma, and then it finishes with a clean, cool, sweet aftertaste. The dish was "kobudai with lotus root" which was not listed on the menu, but he said he could make it today. The fatty and juicy kobudai goes well with the clear flavor of "Kamerei". The long night begins here 🤣.
