ジャイヴ[Returning to the "Home of the Heart" (6)
Shortly before I left for Onomichi, I received a call from the owner of Kikki.
He said, "Jive, I'm thinking of serving Kuroryu at my place from now on, which specs do you prefer?"
Ja "I'm thinking of either a slightly more expensive Ichikyorai Jungin or a more cost-effective Ichikyorai Ginjo.
O "I want everyone in Onomichi to drink something good, so I'll go with Jungin.
Ja "If that's the case, I'll bring a bottle of Fukui limited edition Kuroryu next time I go there".
So we decided to open the Kuroryu we brought as a souvenir and have a tasting.
Kuroryu Adoso Junmai Daiginjo
Named after the production area of the sake rice used for Kuroryu [Adoso Jitoho], this is a model distributed only in Fukui.
It has a serene, slightly sweet aroma, a refreshingly clean taste and sweetness, and a fresh, crisp finish with a fresh, sweet aftertaste.
It received high praise from everyone who tasted it, including the brewery's general manager.
We drank together until around 2 a.m. and left the restaurant promising to meet again next time.
On the way back to the hotel, we walked lightly in the pleasant night breeze while looking at the cranes of the shipbuilding dock on the Onomichi Waterway and the constellation of Orion shining above us.
Oh, I drank a lot! ma-ki-Hi Gyve, hello here too!
You drank well at 2am 😁✨✨.
It was a fun party and a truly refreshing night in your hometown 🤗
The adoso looks delicious 🤤! ジャイヴHi again, ma-ki-chan!
Every time I come to Kikki, it's a given that it will be late in the morning, but it's really fun and time flies by.
I'm sure you'll find the "Adoso" is a reasonable price for "Kuroryu Junmai Daiginjo"! ジャイヴ[Returning to the "Home of the Heart" (5)
[After returning to the hotel for a short rest after a paid tasting at Sake no Takahashi, we started to move on to our main destination this time, Kikki.
I strolled along the shopping street in Onomichi, which I hadn't walked in two years, feeling like I was looking for a mistake to see where things had changed and where they hadn't. I arrived at "Kikki" after enjoying the small changes, such as this store moving to the opposite side of the street!
After saying hello to the owner, I decided to have a drink here ✨.
Kamotsuru Tokusyu.
Rather than a detailed review of the sake's taste, I'll just say that it makes me happy to be drinking at Kikki 🍶.
After a while, a regular who is the same age as me and whom I drank with 7 or 8 years ago came to join us, and the three of us had a great time chatting about the old days.
When we met before, neither of us was married, but now we have a family and admire each other's hard work 🥰.
And the food the owner makes is really delicious 😋!
He told us that he had a good supply of octopus today, so we had octopus tempura, octopus kobutsu, beef tataki, and other excellent dishes made with good ingredients and cooked very well!
[I am always impressed by the depth of the broth used in the deep-fried eggplant!
[The night in Onomichi is drawing to a close. TakashiHi Jive 😊.
Onomichi sounds nice 🥳I stopped by last year on my way from Izumo, where my daughter is, to Shimanami Kaido, where my second son is, for a walk and some ramen, but the night (and the memories) sounds fun too 🍶. ma-ki-Hi Jive!
What a great party ✨!
It's great that the regulars you drank with back then came to the party and the three of you had a chat with the owner 😁✨✨✨.
It's a great thing that you and the owner are chatting together 🤗
The food is all good with sake too 🤤! ジャイヴHi, Takashi!
I'm actually looking forward to seeing your posts about the Shimanami Sea Route 🤣.
If you ever get a chance to visit Onomichi again, please try Kikki ✨. ジャイヴHi, ma-ki-chan!
Since the first time I met the owner, I felt like we were on the same wavelength 🥰.
We also talk with other regulars of the same age about our wives' temperaments 🤣. ジャイヴ[The night at Kikki continues 😁.
After a two-year absence, the sake lineup has changed slightly. They used to have two types of Kamotsuru, a special sake and a top-grade sake, but now they have narrowed it down to one top-grade sake.
The owner's thoughtfulness was too much to be pleased with, saying, "We don't serve it now, but since Jive is coming, we put it in specially for you.
I felt a bond with the owner as I sipped on this sake.
Kamotsuru Tokusyu (special sake).
Plump rice aroma, mild umami and sweetness on the palate, and a lingering mild umami aftertaste even after it finishes.
Ahhhh, it's delicious!
The sake that got me into the sake swamp is still delicious 😊.
Great with fried food such as deep fried kuwai and deep fried whale ✨.
As the night wore on and the customers started to wear out, the owner asked us to join him for drinks, which we did as usual, so I ordered a large portion of "horse mackerel licking" for my last order, opened the "pickled sea bream" and "pickled mackerel" that I had brought, and the three of us sat at the table with the neighbor who works at "Otters" and talked about "this", "that", and "the other". We had a great conversation, and before we knew it, it was time to call it a day ✨.
It was a lot of fun, and drinking here was the most refreshing thing I've ever done 😆.
The next day we had Chinese noodles for lunch at Sonoda in Fukuyama, delicious 😊. ポンちゃんHi Gyve, Good evening 🌙
I see that you are such a deep drinker that you have prepared drinks for us😊I can see that you are relaxing and enjoying yourselves❣️ You have had a good drinking trip👍✨ ジェイ&ノビィGyve, I'm with you 😃.
You have built a great relationship 🥹.
I hope you enjoyed your rich overnight drinking trip ‼️ meeting new and old people 🤗. Rafa papaGood morning, Gyve 😃.
I hope you are enjoying your trip😊I envy you the relationship you have with your Master who knows all about your tastes 😊Jaive 😌. ジャイヴGood morning, Pon-chan!
After my first visit to Kikki, we've continued to exchange New Year's cards and local snacks 😁.
Kamotsuru Tokusyu (special sake) goes perfectly with the dishes made with the best ingredients from the Seto Inland Sea prepared by the owner 😋. ジャイヴGood morning, Jay & Nobby!
For some reason, it has become a pattern for solo travelers to arrive at Kicuki, have a conversation with the owner, have a drink with him, get to know each other, and leave 😁.
There are many repeaters like myself ✨. ジャイヴGood morning, Rafa!
We go to Onomichi every year and drink together every time before Corona, so we've known each other for a long time 😁.
Sometimes I forget to update the menu, and when I go there, I get excited in a way that I can do this today! ジャイヴThe second drink of the trip to Onomichi [Kikki] to refresh your spirit is a drink here 🍶.
Seikagami Junmai Sake.
The nose is not so effective and the aroma is not so strong, but the mouthfeel is strong and sweet, and then it finishes with a lingering sweetness and sake-like aftertaste.
The dish was again off the menu [Wagyu Beef Tataki].
The customer next to me was confused when I asked for something that wasn't on the menu, so I told him to ask the owner and he would get it for me, which led to a conversation 😊.
I told him that I was an employee of Otters and that I was here on a solo trip for a change of pace.
The three of us had a lively conversation and the fun night continued 😁. つぶちゃんHi Gyve😄
I'm so glad that you had a great time and met some nice people 😊.
I hope you had a great time and had the most refreshing trip 🤗. ジャイヴHello, Tsubu-chan!
Every time I go to [kikki], it's a fun place where I can have a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with the owner every time 😁.
Of course, the food that the owner prepares is also outstanding ✨. ジャイヴOne hour on the Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka, transferring to a local train at Fukuyama, 20 minutes to Onomichi.
As soon as you exit the station, the nostalgic atmosphere of the Onomichi waterway will calm your mind.
Since I always know where to go for a drink in Onomichi, I stroll around downtown Onomichi at night until it's time to go out for a drink, enjoying the nostalgic atmosphere of the narrow, maze-like alleys and naked exterior lights, and now it's time to drink 😁.
The owner says "Welcome back, Jive" to me as I enter Kikki, which is half the reason I come to Onomichi ✨.
We toast with a beer while debriefing 🍺As always, the beer here has a slightly sherbet-like kick to it that I can't resist after a day on the Shimanami Kaido 🧊.
Shifting from beer to Hiroshima's local sake, we started off with this 🍶.
Kamerei Junmai Sake.
The aroma is clear with a hint of rice sweetness, the mouthfeel is smooth with a slight sweetness that matches the aroma, and then it finishes with a clean, cool, sweet aftertaste.
The dish was "kobudai with lotus root" which was not listed on the menu, but he said he could make it today. The fatty and juicy kobudai goes well with the clear flavor of "Kamerei".
The long night begins here 🤣. ジェイ&ノビィGood evening, Gyve 😃.
You've started the Onomichi section: ‼️ I've never been there, but I'd like to taste the nostalgic cityscape: ☺️
And "Welcome home! It's nice that you have a regular place to say "Welcome home! ジャイヴGood morning, Jay & Nobby!
[Onomichi has a retro Showa-era townscape and a spectacular view of the Seto Inland Sea that spreads out before your eyes. ジャイヴP.S. Jay & Nobby
[We have been in contact with the owner of Kicuki, and even when we are not meeting, we are still in touch and exchange local products. RecommendedContentsSectionView.title
