One hour on the Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka, transferring to a local train at Fukuyama, 20 minutes to Onomichi. As soon as you exit the station, the nostalgic atmosphere of the Onomichi waterway will calm your mind. Since I always know where to go for a drink in Onomichi, I stroll around downtown Onomichi at night until it's time to go out for a drink, enjoying the nostalgic atmosphere of the narrow, maze-like alleys and naked exterior lights, and now it's time to drink 😁. The owner says "Welcome back, Jive" to me as I enter Kikki, which is half the reason I come to Onomichi ✨. We toast with a beer while debriefing 🍺As always, the beer here has a slightly sherbet-like kick to it that I can't resist after a day on the Shimanami Kaido 🧊. Shifting from beer to Hiroshima's local sake, we started off with this 🍶. Kamerei Junmai Sake. The aroma is clear with a hint of rice sweetness, the mouthfeel is smooth with a slight sweetness that matches the aroma, and then it finishes with a clean, cool, sweet aftertaste. The dish was "kobudai with lotus root" which was not listed on the menu, but he said he could make it today. The fatty and juicy kobudai goes well with the clear flavor of "Kamerei". The long night begins here 🤣.
