Today was Powder Day. However, I could not ski well. My mentality is weak for the real thing, and I am in full throttle. I couldn't go home feeling like this, so I went to Nmaya (a cafe run by a ryokan) and bought a coffee rouro (a cake roll made with coffee brewed in Echigo-yuzawa hot spring), and then went to a food stall village to enjoy a hot sake and motsu-ni (a kind of stewed beef tongue). The motsu-ni was very sinking in. I was encouraged again today by a cup of Chojamori hot sake. It's hot and warms you up gradually. Let's do our best tomorrow. Tomorrow is Powder Day, and it seems it will be for some time to come. Please come to Echigo-Yuzawa to enjoy sake, hot springs, and snow sports. Sake tastes even better on a cold day.

It was a beautiful day, a full day of snowboarding and sweating. It's getting colder and colder. I couldn't stand it any longer, so I decided to have either amazake or heated sake, and heated sake won out. At the Echigo Yuzawa Station food stall village, you can choose between cold and hot sake in a Choja cup for 400 yen. The cups are boiled in a pot. (What an efficient drink, I thought...). Actually, I spent 30 minutes looking at the storefront to decide whether to buy amazake or heated sake. When I saw that no one was buying a cup of chosha, I said to myself, "In this situation, go for what you want to drink! I decided to go with the heated Choja Cup. There were plenty of draft beer and amazake on tap, though. I'm going to give a big shout out to the fact that many people may not know that you can get 200ml hot sake here for 400 yen (cold sake is also available). This sake has won a gold medal in the National Heated Sake Contest!
