Bizen Asahi, fresh and light The attractive rice flavor of native varieties is blended in for a refreshing finish for midsummer. The fresh gaseous taste is also infused into it to create an exciting flavor. Asahi rice was cultivated in a wide area of western Japan from the Taisho era to the early Showa era, around the same time as Kame-no-o-mai rice in eastern Japan. After the war, it was replaced by a variety that was easier to grow and more productive, and its cultivation was discontinued. This sake expresses the deep flavor and sweetness unique to the old "Asahi rice" variety, a charm not found in crossbred varieties. It has a light, refreshing taste suitable for summer, and also incorporates plenty of gas and freshness, making it an attractive midsummer drink.
