Kumakichi
Today is a sunny day, so we had a tempura lunch at Arakawa in Kita-ku, our hometown!
The store is one of only a few Jyushidai breweries in Japan, and they offer not only the 27 varieties of Jyushidai that are released every year, but also a lineup of sakes that are only available at the brewery!
The first glass was a light nigori Omachi, and the second was a very fine Morohaku!
Both were delicious, but the Gokujo Morohira was my favorite of the day!
Gokujo Morohira is a Junmai Daiginjo made from Yamadanishiki and Aizan from Hyogo Prefecture and polished to perfection!
It had a very pronounced sweetness like a sweet ripe melon, but the beautiful acidity made it flow so smoothly!
The owner enthusiastically told us that Ryuzuki is available in November through liquor stores, but the direct brewery distributes the fresh sake in March!
The owner enthusiastically told us that even though Ryuzuki is available in November through the sake brewery, the sake is sold fresh in March at the direct brewery! The price of sake is rather expensive, but it was 1500-2500 yen for a single cup of sake poured in a row!
Ryugetsu is 4,000-5,000 yen per sake cup, so I'll hold off for today...
