A quick digression from the sake post!
Tora Makkoli by Aruga Brewery of Jinya and Seikyu Soma!
They also distribute it to yakiniku restaurants in Tokyo!
I went to a liquor store and saw some makkoli and felt like drinking it (I saw some Korean makkoli on the shelves, but after some research I found out that there was also a sake brewery), so I went to the brewery just for the makkoli.
I was told that there are two types of makkoli, Kirinohana and Tora Makkoli, and when I asked about the difference, I was told that they are for consumers and for restaurants, and that the contents are the same!
The recommendation was that it goes well with BBQ, grilled meat, and yakitori, so I bought some lamb on the way home and tried it!
The label said it was dry, so I was hesitant to drink it, but it wasn't at all 💦.
I thought it would be a bit dry, but instead it was smooth and silky on the palate, with a hint of carbonation. It was almost like water!
I rearranged the drink when I was about halfway through! I drank it with apple juice and drinking yogurt, but I personally prefer it with Tiger Makgeolli Simple or drinking yogurt. Women find it easier to drink with apple juice.
If you see this drink at a barbecue restaurant, you should definitely try it!

The longer the bottle is open, the less makgeolli it feels and the stronger the alcohol becomes!
You should drink it as soon as you open the bottle.
