It's Sunday and I'm in the mood for a little drinking. Last week, I had a chance to have a drink with some of my seniors who had retired after a long time, and they gave me a bottle of Sandesi. It was perfect for a night like this! So, this is my first visit to a sake brewery, Seibei Imanishi Shoten's Harushika! This time it was Junmai Ginjo! My senpai told me it was a sweeter sake. So, let's have it right away! First, the aroma. It has a refreshing aroma. When you put it in your mouth, you will feel a fresh sweetness, then a slightly complex taste, and then a spiciness will spread. Overall, it has a smooth taste and a mild impression. However, although it is mild on its own, when combined with a meal, it becomes rich, sweet, umami, spicy, and deliciously satisfying. The lingering spiciness gives it a well-balanced taste. Many of the things we receive as gifts are things we would never pick up on our own, so it was a gift that made me realize how grateful I am to be able to encounter something new and enjoy it even more deliciously.

Good evening, ma-ki-chan๐ŸŒ›Harushika is certainly not easy to find ๐ŸถIt's a sake that really comes into its own with a meal. โœจ๏ธ I'm not a fan of the spicy aftertaste, but I can see how it would balance things out ๐Ÿ˜‹.

Thanks for your comment Nao888! Yes, I agree. I have the impression that it became thicker when matched with a meal ๐Ÿ˜‹. I wondered if the aftertaste was dry and wondered if this is what Nao888-san doesn't like? I was thinking ๐Ÿ˜Š.

Hi ma-ki-! What is Sandesi? I googled it, and wow, it's a lot of things I didn't know, so I'm learning a lot. I see that the sake that I often see goes well with food.

Thanks for your comment ichiro18! I'm also one of the people who learned about the expression "sandesi" at Sake no Wassa ๐Ÿ˜โœจ. It was the first time for me too, but once again I felt that there are a lot of good sake without drinking it ๐Ÿ˜‹.

Happy first spring deer, ma-ki-๐ŸŽ‰! I see that you show your strength during the label eating here! I'll make a note of it ๐Ÿ™. You can do a tasting (for a fee) at the brewery...it's a short walk from Nara station if you have the chance ๐Ÿ˜Š.
