Chokki
Yamamba Oshu Ishikawa's local sake 19-20% brewed alcohol 720ml 1345 yen Purchased at a roadside station in Fukushima, Japan, from the Wakashimizu Sake Brewery. It has a golden color and an aroma of maturity. When drunk, it is lightly aged, with a slight acidity like plum wine. My first impression was that it did not have much depth, but the more I drank, the better I felt. It is soft, yet has a rough, spiky taste. It is more like a whiskey than a plum liqueur. There is no mention of the polish, so I wonder if it is a blended sake. Surprisingly, it hit the mark despite the label. There will be another repeat. It was ranked 6th out of 13 at the Kinshokai.
