Moritami Sake Brewery Honke, with a history of 173 years, will be newly reborn in March 2022.
Moritami Sake Brewery Honke is the only sake brewery in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture (Aramachi, Wakabayashi-ku) that has continued to make sake in the handmade tradition since 1849, when Tamizo I founded the brewery.
The brewery has recently undergone a major renovation in an effort to make sake more palatable to customers after 173 years. The beams that date back to the founding of the brewery have been utilized in the building to improve the quality of the sake, while at the same time preserving the historical legacy of the brewery. In conjunction with this renovation, the Moritami Sake Brewery will begin selling a new brand of sake, "Moritami".
