Here is one of my most favorite nigori sake from last year. This year, I went to Mimata Sake Shop for the first time, looking for a place where I could buy it for sure! I don't usually go to Oizumigakuen, but I would like to visit again because it was a very nice store from the customer service to the selection of products.
It has a stimulating, energetic and refreshing taste, like an adult Calpis soda, but it also has a citrus-like acidity to it, so it might be similar to lemon squash. I like the taste of this kind of lactic acid bacteria drink, so I tend to buy only nigori soda...
This year's Shirojyu is a little different from last year's, and this year's is probably the most similar to last year's Hirotogawa nigori (I drank a dry nigori this year).
Compared to Senkou Yukidaruma (a dry lot I drank this year), this year's Shirojyu really pops! It is more sweet and sour than Yukidaruma. I think sweet and sour is Sentori's signature...lol!
On the first day, you can clearly see that the sweetness is kept in check by the fizziness and acidity. It is as if the sweetness is leaking out between the acidity in the mouth. But that's good.
As the second and third days go by, it rapidly becomes more sake-like, and on the fourth and fifth day it becomes bananas-like, which I personally really like! The taste change is also great!
