Off-line meeting of "Sake-no-wa Kansai_Hankai Train Charter" held on August 26, 2023.
The plan was for each participant to bring a four-pack of sake and drink it all up.
This is the 9th bottle of my check-in at the late timing that I am the only one who still contributes.
Sake provided by Masha-san.
It is "Garakudai Test Brewing 3rd" from Tenryo Cup Brewery in Sado City, Niigata Prefecture.
This is another sake I wanted to try!
In 2018, the then youngest and industry inexperienced Toji Kato continued to brew Garakudai with a logical and scientific approach, and the quality of the sake has remarkably improved, making it particularly popular these days.
This time, it is a test brew limited to 1000 bottles of Junmai Daiginjo standard sake using a mutant strain of yeast No. 7 (a yeast that produces high levels of isoamyl acetate).
Recalling the memory, the modest but refreshing muscat-like aroma is pleasant, the mouthfeel is smooth like water, and the soft and clear sweetness and acidity go away and disappear.
It was delicious with a slightly fruity nuance added to the image, while retaining the watery lightness that is typical of Gagakuyo 😊.
Thanks for the treat, Masha-san!
On a side note, Garakudai (Utashiro) is often referred to as "Masayo" or something like that, but it was interesting and funny that someone read it as "junk" 😁.
