In the early hours of December 23, 2024, the Furuya Sake Brewery (the brewer of Fukayama-Zakura and Wawa) was hit by a fire that destroyed the brewery.
The brewery then borrowed facilities from Kurosawa Shuzo to brew and release "Fukayamazakura-Wawa Junmai Ginjo" (Junmai Ginjo).
I was strongly attracted to this product when the sake shop introduced me to the fact that it was made with valuable sake rice that miraculously escaped being destroyed in that fire, and I was eager to try it and purchase a bottle.
A cup of recovery! Bon appétit!
A grape-like aroma, a hint of sweetness and a sharp finish with moderate acidity that gives it a kick!
Taste it in the Kiseki glass that was my birthday present,
I sincerely hope that these wonderful sake breweries will remain for a long time to come and let us enjoy many more wonderful sakes.

Hi Ham 😃
I was surprised to hear the news of the fire 😔 as Wawa had enjoyed the sake on my previous Nagano sake trip 😔It will take some time for them to recover on their own 🤔I hope the breweries can help each other out 😌.
