August has come and gone, but the summer drinking has not ended... I guess I'll just have to settle for summer/autumn.... Sunburst has been getting better and better every year, and this year's is pretty good, too. The aroma is lactic acid, citrus, and seme. Dark. Somewhat gassy. The sweetness is mellow and the acidity is intense. It is very fresh and is the opposite of a refreshing summer sake. The acidity continues to the end and finishes with sourness. This is my favorite type of Koei Kiku. I am happy that it has the atmosphere of when it first came out. I hope there will be another Koeikiku with lactic acidity, strong gas, and sourness.
