The brewer's hometown, Minamiuonuma City, Niigata Prefecture, is home to the Takagami Shrine (Koroku Shrine), which is a shrine for water goddesses.
Takagami Shrine enshrines the god of weaving, and is said to have a long history that is connected to the origin of one of Japan's 100 most famous mountains, Makiki-zan.
The brand name, which used to be attached to the highest quality sake, has been revived and is now attached to aluzake.
