The Edo shogunate granted the right to manufacture ironware called "nabeza" to the prominent families in various regions. The predecessor of this brewery was the one that was entrusted with nabeza in the Shimousa area.
In the Genroku period (1688-1704), the Sakura Clan, which ruled this area, gave the brewery shares and began brewing sake in front of the Narita Mountain gate, known as "Narita no Ofudo-sama.
At that time, long-established breweries were called "Onana," and it is said that the name "Nabe-ten" came from the combination of "Nabe-za" and "Onana," thus giving the brewery the name "Nabe-ten.
