The origin of the sake name "Tenjinbayashi" is a celebratory song from Uonuma area in Niigata prefecture, which is sung at weddings and other banquets.
It is also a standard song in Ojiya, where I live, but the lyrics are different from those in Tokamachi, and even in Ojiya, the lyrics and verses may differ depending on the village.
After "Tenjinbayashi" is sung in the first half of the party, people can go to other seats to pour sake (until then, they must not leave their seats or tables).
It is a move that has a unique style and beauty, and when chanted, it gives a sense of unity and increases the tension of the party.
I had my wedding ceremony in Tokyo, and I included the chanting of Tenjinbayashi in the ceremony.
