In Niigata City.
After a lunchtime sake tasting and a walk around the city, we went to an izakaya (Japanese-style pub) in the city.
The first glass was a Tatomo.
Polishing ratio 60
Alcohol content 16%.
100% Koshidanrei produced in Ojiya City, Niigata Prefecture
This is Niigata Prefecture's preferred rice for sake brewing.
It is a crossbreed of Yamadanishiki and Gohyakumangoku.
While maintaining the lightness characteristic of Niigata sake, the acidity, umami, and sweetness are well balanced. The high alcohol content did not bother me and it was easy to drink 😙.
The entrée was an assortment of pickles and Nagaoka edamame beans 🫛.
A good sake that doesn't interfere with the meal 🍶.
