かいこま
Matsumoto Expedition 1)
The day before yesterday, I went to Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, for the first time in a while to attend a seminar of the Japan Sommelier Association.
Arriving before noon, I first went to "Ootsuki Sake Shop" near Fukashi Shrine. It was my first visit to the restaurant, as I was told that it is open for kaku-uchi (corner drinking) from noon. Even though it is called a kaku-uchi, you can sit down and have a drink here. To order, you look at the menu, make your selection, and then buy a ticket for your order from the ticket vending machine and hand it to the store staff.
First, we ordered a set of three different types of sake to compare. You can choose from a whopping 16 different types of sake by the glass. The following is a list of the three types of sake we drank, in the order in which we drank them.
First, here is the Daisetsuken. Below are my impressions of it, but my comments are short because I reproduced them from my brief notes.
'The aroma is moderate and refreshing. The taste is also refreshing and mildly sweet and spicy. It has a nice thirst-quenching taste and never gets old.'
