As a birthday present, my wife bought me a bottle of sake at Kandaya in Hirakata.
This is my first time to drink sake from Shimane. It is a junmai, nama-shu, which I like. The rice polishing is 70%, but it depends on your taste. The alcohol content is slightly high at 17 degrees. The rice is Gohyakumangoku from Shimane Prefecture. It was developed by a female brewer targeting female customers, so it is a sweet and fruity sake, which is very popular nowadays. However, it also has a strong sake character.
The sweetness is more pronounced if you let the bottle sit for a week after opening. The price is 3,300 yen including tax, which is very reasonable.
Recommended for first-time sake drinkers.
