📍New Chitose Airport Hokkaido Honpo
We received a souvenir from Hokkaido. Here, which we often see at Sake-no-wa, are three different cups of sake with cute animals from Asahiyama Zoo on them. The fun cup designs are by Michiko Abe, a designer active in Asahikawa.
This junmai sake is brewed using Hokkaido's best rice for sake brewing. I was a little concerned about the bran or miso-like and alu aroma, but the taste is clean and refreshing, with a touch of sweetness and acidity. Contrary to the cute appearance of the bottle, I felt it had a classic flavor. It would be good as a food wine. The recommended dish was mackerel simmered in miso and other dishes with a strong flavor, but it went well with grilled fish (hokke and herring) with a delicious fatty flavor.
