Since I visited Osaka Expo, I went to Heiwa Doburoku Namba Brewery in the basement of Osaka Takashimaya with a wish for peace. Freshly made doburoku and kiddos from the server are available.
A coined word combining "Kii-no-kuni," the old name of Wakayama, and "land (do).
During the postwar turmoil, brewing had to be suspended, but Yasumasa Yamamoto, the second generation brewer, made a petition speech to the Diet and received permission to resume brewing. The desire at this time to "brew sake in peaceful times" was the origin of the brewery's name, "Heiwa Shuzo" ("Peace Brewery").
