Tonight's accompaniment is a bottle of this one. When the bottle is opened, the aroma is not so much floral as it is ricey. In the mouth, you can taste the strong flavor of the rice, just as the aroma suggests. It is 100% Yamadanishiki, but the taste is a little different from what I expected. However, today's main dish is an eggplant keema curry, so it might be a good match. The first was potato salad with iburigakko (pickled ginger). The acidity of the mayonnaise, combined with the smokiness, calms down the strong taste and makes it easier to drink. When paired with the eggplant/basil/cream cheese deep-fried spring rolls, the sweetness and flavor of the rice stand out and are delicious. Not rice, but heavy European-style bread. The weak acidity of the bread and the spices flowed nicely, which was nice too. The first bite was too strong, but I think the pairing was right.
