Masaaki Sapporo
8.5 points (wife: 9.5 points)
Ingredients : Rice, Rice malt
Rice used : 100% Yamaguchi Prefecture Saigetsu no Shizuku
Rice polishing ratio : 40
Alcohol percentage : 15
Gift from my sister in Tokyo
When the bottle is opened
Almost no gasiness
Slightly sweet rice malt on the top.
The aroma is like sweet strawberries mingled with the top-tasting aroma, and the full sweetness and gentle umami of the rice spread out with a moderate acidity, and then it finishes smoothly with a slight bitterness.
The sweetness has a strong impact in the first half, but the not so strong body and the slight bitterness in the second half harmonize and balance it out.
It goes well with grilled and simmered dishes, but not so good with sashimi.
It went well with Top Value dumplings, rolled pea shoots, and kombu-shime mentaiko (spicy cod roe).
