I finally got to drink some decent sake (まとも,て) from Oyama! Oyama is the parent company of Kitashika, Echigozakura, Yukitsubaki, Kyohime, and Hamafukutsuru, and is the largest sake brewer in eastern Japan. The Oyama Brewery, once the only brewery in the 23 wards of Tokyo (until Tokyo Port Brewing Company was established), is a distant relative of the Oyama Brewery, and the Marushin Masamune brand is said to have been taken over by this company after the company withdrew from the sake business. It has a full-bodied flavor with a hint of sourness. It is rather strong, so it is hard to gobble it down. The top aroma is of grapes and pears with a slight hint of cemedine.
