I've recently become a fan of sake, and when I look up sake in Saitama, where I now live, I'm always curious about a sake called Hanayo-yoku that comes up at the top of the list. When I looked it up on the internet, I was told that you can sometimes buy it directly from the brewery. When I called directly, I was told that it was available today. It took me about an hour and a half to go there. There was only one bottle left, but I bought it.
When I drank it, I was surprised at the impact of the aroma and taste. It is said that it has a sweetness like pineapple, but it has a very mellow sweetness and flavor. But right after that, there is a crisp spiciness that leaves a little sweetness and a clean aftertaste. This is what makes sake different from juice, and what makes it so interesting.
