It's been a while since I've had sake on New Year's Day, although I've recently been watching the sugar content and refraining from drinking it. It was served with osechi, and the dried persimmon-like flavor spread out, perhaps because it had been so long since I bought it. The aroma through the nose has a strong oxidative nuance reminiscent of sherry. The aroma is also nutty and savory, and although it does not go down smoothly, the flavors can be savored slowly.
Hmmm... not my favorite.
