What is Gorobei Rice...
Gorobei Rice is produced in a limited area near the Gorobei Irrigation Canal. The rice grown in the clear stream from Mt. Tateshina and the strong clay soil of Asashina is characterized by its stickiness and sweetness. The limited production of this rice and its delicious taste have made it a "phantom rice," a brand of rice that is rarely distributed in the market and is treated by high-class restaurants.
