It was just before Tanabata, the day of the summer solstice, and I was eating an octopus.
The name comes from the fact that the character for "Eiko" was added to the original sake name "Fuji" when the brewery was first founded to express the wish for prosperity. It is also said that the symmetrical character "Eiko-Fuji" represents the brewery's philosophy of "sake brewing without backs and sides.
