The lake in "Mikotsuru" refers to Lake Suwa. The name "Mikotsuru" comes not from the place where cranes fly, but from a dream the founder had in which a crane (a messenger of God) appeared.
The company that revived this once-closed history is Ban'ei Transport, located in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, a long way away. I surprisingly like to drink while retracing these stories.
