Mutsu Hassen Special Junmai ISARIBI (Aomori)
This sake is brewed in Hachinohe City, a port town, for seafood. I drank it while eating grilled squid. The sweetness of the squid was well matched with the flavor of the squid. We also had Hoki-gai sashimi, which was also great, and we were surprised that it went so well with it. If you drink it on its own, it's still spicy and refreshing with a clear acidity. However, because it is a nama-shu, it is slightly gassy and juicy. However, it leaves a lingering aftertaste to match the food. It is a food sake to match with seafood. Next time I would like to try it with steamed clams.
