<It has a rich sweetness and juicy flavor.
This is the personal brand of Yuji Hatanaka, the master brewer at Yamaoka Shuzo. The words on the label were written by Hatanaka's son, Toota, who was in second grade at the time.
I had a feeling it would be good warmed up, so I ordered both cold and warmed sake.
We started with the cold sake.
The aroma was a bit sweet and ripe, with a hint of Yamahai.
It's just the right amount of umami-sweetness with a happy hint of maturity. It has a matured feel, but it's not heavy with its 10 years of age.
When heated, it has a rich sweetness and a hint of sourness and bitterness. The umami spreads from there. It's great warmed! I drank it slowly, and it's delicious hot or warmed up in the sun.
If I were to compare it to Ghibli, I'd say it's a pod from "Arrietty the Borrower". I'm Arrietty's father, and although I'm 61, I don't feel my age. He's also a craftsman type, reminiscent of Toji-san. I don't know what kind of person Hatanaka-san is. But I'm sure he loves his child just the same.
Satisfaction: ★★★★☆
I`ll post the full version on the blog, complete with character images and such. If you'd like, you can search for "korune sake" or come from the link in my profile section.
