I discovered "Hiran" at a new liquor store in the basement of Seibu Department Store in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, where I stopped by on my first shopping trip of the New Year.
Yamada Sake Shoji is one of the leading liquor stores in Hiroshima Prefecture, and this is their first store in the Kanto area!
They specialize in rare sake and sake from Hiroshima Prefecture and western Japan!
Their skills are quite impressive! They have a large display of Koei-Kiku, Oh-Roku and Hi-lan, which are very rare to find in the Kanto area!
There were also a variety of 寫樂 and Houou Mita sake on display, so the lineup was beyond the scope of a traditional department store sake shop!
We were able to get a bottle of Hiran Happy New Born, which is an unfiltered, unpasteurized sake made from 100% Yamadanishiki, and we were amazed at the taste!
I was amazed at the taste! It was a bottle with a very mild acidity and sharpness.
I'm learning a lot!
