Goodnight for the week 🍶Today we will be having sansho purchased from a liquor store in Oimachi.
I hesitated to buy it because it is a bit expensive, but it is a rare sake so I bought it 😊.
It opens vigorously when opened so be a little careful opening the bottle. It has a strong gassy taste and the aroma is juicy sweet and sour like a pear. The acidity is a bit pronounced and has a yogurt feel to it. On the palate, there is a pungent acidity like that of cider or grapefruit, and a slow astringency that lingers. I haven't had this kind of sake in a long time 😲! I paired it with shrimp gratin and bacon potatoes, and it is delicious. It seems to be a good match with western food as well.
I'm looking forward to reading Weekly Baseball and Number this weekend ✨.
