This is the second day of our haphazard trip to Kyushu. On this day, we took the Nishitetsu train to Kumamoto after stopping at Dazaifu and Yanagawa.
Kumamoto is known for its horse meat dishes. A local told me about a restaurant that also serves delicious fish.
The fish swimming in the fish tank can be cooked to your liking as sashimi, grilled or tempura. I had the wild horse mackerel (Sekijima horse mackerel?) from Oita. Half of the meat was ordered as sashimi and half as grilled fish.
Tonight's companion is Zuitaka, a local sake. It has a fruity fragrance and soft taste. Sashimi of a fresh horse mackerel, grilled dish, horse sashimi, and a leek guru. All were delicious.
