Onuma Sake Brewery Kenkonichi
Murata, lined with rows of merchant houses built in the style of earthen storehouses, was under the direct control of the Date family during the Edo period (1603-1868), and has a history of prospering as a distribution center for safflowers and other products. Located at the foot of Mt. Zao and blessed with rich nature, the family's founder Juro Saemon took the name Onumaya and started brewing sake in the 2nd year of Shotoku era (Shotoku 2). Since then, we have been brewing high quality sake by hand, using the traditional cold brewing techniques, from koji molding to all the process of making sake.
