On the last day of our trip to Joetsu, we bought this at Sake-no-Aizawa.
It is my favorite summer sake, Kanehatsu Kazayawaraka.
Kazeyawaraka is characterized by the umami of Gohyakumangoku and softness of flavor.
I was curious about this sake because it seems to have a good reputation for its nama-zake.
The silver package is very cool.
The color of the sake is only slightly tinted.
When you put your nose close to the bottle, you can smell the fresh and crisp aroma typical of nama-shu.
When you drink it, the freshness of the sake bursts forth just like the aroma.
It has the umami of rice and the crisp, bright sharpness typical of Gohyakumangoku.
There is also a hint of gas.
This is delicious and easy to drink!
It may be surprisingly rare to find a Niigata sake that is fresh and full of freshness.
This is a sake I want to check out every year.
But I also want to try the Junmai Hi-ire!
