Kameda Shuzo (Kamogawa City, Chiba Prefecture), a long-established sake brewery dating back to the Edo period, brewed its first wine and launched it in December. The company is aiming to attract new customers amid a drop in sales of sake and other existing products due to the new coronavirus disaster. In the future, the company aims to produce wine using locally grown grapes.
The white wine launched under the brand name "Torche Bonheur" is made from Koshu grapes produced in Yamanashi Prefecture and blueberries grown in Minami-Boso. In French, Torche means "turtle" and Bonheur means "happiness.
