Souvenirs from Oita I have the impression that Kyushu is known for its shochu culture, but there are many sake breweries in the area. After looking around several supermarkets, this Nishinoseki Kamisen seemed to be the most commonly consumed sake, so I decided to buy it. First of all, the aroma is very matured, or rather sour and mellow, with an amazing aroma. When I drank it, I found it to be quite sweet, and upon closer inspection, I realized that sugar had been added. It is a rather mellow and robust sake, and I thought it was quite out of my taste. Soy sauce is also sweet in Kyushu, and perhaps people prefer sweet sake as well.
