The accompaniment for the New Year's festive meal is "Shirotoroku" from Harushika Kuramoto, which was given to us as a souvenir from Nara. Since I drank it after an aperitif of thick yuzu liqueur, I couldn't taste the sweetness at first, but after a while, I began to recognize it as a slightly sweet, light, and umakuchi type of sake. It is a quiet accompaniment to the morning celebratory meal with a dish of dried bonito cooked in a sober bonito broth. I appreciate a good, quiet sake for a mid-morning drink. From the first day of the New Year, thank you for the feast 😋.
